Five reasons why we care... It's not that simple...

We are often asked how we decide what to stock in our lovely little shop. The truth is it's an honest combination of "Wow, that's beautiful!' along with our ethos of supporting designers who had an idea in their head and went ahead and made it into something beautiful and unique. So here goes!

  1. Putting ourselves in your shoes. We respect quality and like to imagine how our customers would like to spend their hard earned money. We understand how we all need to be careful in our decisions to purchase so we like to put ourselves in your shoes. Handmade has to cost that bit extra but we think about the process of design and creating. We think about functionality and longevity so you select something bespoke which will last.
  2. U.K. based designers. We try to meet our designers in person by visiting trade fairs and getting to know the story behind design and the end product. Many of the items on our shelves are made by one person companies, an idea started in a small bedroom, cherished, pursued, original and beautiful!
  3. Sustainability. Learning about the design process highlights sustainability which is a major factor in deciding on our stock. We aim high with our standards and demand transparency and accountability when caring for our environment.  No air miles, deliveries often hand delivered by the designers, sustainable packaging and a like minded approach to creating gifts with an eco-conscious mind.
  4. Loyalty. We try to find the balance between supporting new designers and being loyal to those who have been with us from the birth of our business. It's the little things that we love, the thank you notes in cardboard boxes, the smiley faces on envelopes, kisses and best wishes. Sometimes, it's easy to forget the importance in tiny acts of kindness while in the chaos of tissue paper and parcel boxes so it's our turn to express our gratitude especially to our online customers. That's why we have a rewards scheme and recently you may have found a luxury biscuit in your package!
  5. Gut feelings. Sometimes, it's that gut feeling, that silence when something beautiful comes into view, that "oooh, they're gorgeous." We see it and hear it with our customers, too. We are often told that we have a beautiful shop, we will continue to listen and learn from all of you and we will continue to say thank you, we appreciate your kind words. This blog almost feels like a review of ourselves so perhaps you would like to write us a review, too! It doesn't have to be an essay!
